About the Job
Boulder Wind Power is currently seeking an experienced individual to support the thermal system design and analysis of the generator and power converter systems. We are looking for a candidate with a combination of strong technical skills and experience with highly integrated thermal system designs.
Successful candidates must be ‘hands-on’ and be willing to work in an interactive, fast-paced technical environment. The individual will be expected to adapt quickly to the challenges of clean-sheet engineering, and work closely with the entire technical organization in a collaborative manner on cross-functional tasks.
Responsibilities
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Provide expertise in the thermal design and analysis of the generator system and power converters
· Design and analysis of the entire heat rejection system as an integral part of the generator system including parametric modeling of various configuration
· Define and guide sub-scale thermal experiments to characterize thermal properties, components and systems
· Participate in design process including:
o meeting new product introduction toll gates
o design reviews
o optimization of cost / performance of components and subsystems
o identifying technical risks
o developing risk mitigation strategies and plans
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and attributes:
· A B.S or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on thermal design, heat transfer or fluid dynamics is preferred.
· Five or more years of thermal system design experience (preferably with rotating machines)
· Highly skilled in CFD modeling and analysis (preferably ANSYS CFX)
· Proficient using FEA tools for thermal analysis (preferably ANSYS Mechanical)
· Proficient using CAD tools (preferably Solidworks)
· Experience with thermal system testing

In addition, the following qualifications and attributes are strongly desired:
· Proficiency with Matlab
· Experience with measurement data reduction and analysis
