About the Job

BWP is currently seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer.  The Embedded Systems Engineer works with the Principal Engineer of Power Systems and is responsible for:

·         Design and integration of control algorithms for utility grade inverters operating permanent magnet motors          and generators.

·         Develop firmware and communication software for real time controllers.

·         Software code applicable to power converters, inverters and motor drive products operating in wind turbines.

·         Digital and analog system design working with TI DSP and FPGAs

·         Design and testing of control boards using digital and analog circuits.

·         Working with TI Code Composer Studio and programming real time controls in C.

·         Developing innovative robust control methods and strategies for control of utility grade power converters.

The job involves developing embedded system, control architectures; coding real time control software, sensor sampling, triggering, and user I/O interface software; executing unit and system testing; and writing documentation. Close collaboration and problem solving with other engineering disciplines, particularly power electronics and test engineers, will be necessary.

Qualifications: 

A BS/MS in electrical engineering or computer science with 3 to 5 years relevant experience in:

·         Control system design

·         Embedded software design and coding in C

·         Electronic component / system integration and testing

·         TI Code Composer Studio and TI DSP BIOS

Candidate should also understand control theory.  Experience with PWM power converter control and motor controls are preferred. Candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be capable of performing laboratory high power testing in excess of 100kW, and be comfortable in a hands-on product development environment using the latest software development best practices.
