About the Job
Boulder Wind Power is currently seeking an experienced individual to compliment the Company’s ANSYS modeling efforts. We are looking for a candidate with a combination of strong physical analysis skills and experience in employing a wide variety of finite element techniques. This individual will be responsible for supporting several teams that evaluate and validate system designs, as well as designing and executing modeling projects. The individual must be able to demonstrate a working engineering knowledge base beyond a core FEA skill set. The individual must be ‘hands-on’ and be willing to work in an interactive, fast-paced environment. The individual will be expected to adapt and react to a challenging dynamic environment, and to work closely with the entire development and engineering organization.
Responsibilities
Specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Lead and support modeling activities from subscale proof-of-concept components through full-scale validation prototypes
· Specify computational analysis tools and methodology used within the company
· Develop and manage internal modeling standards and platforms
· Aid the design of modeling efforts for the rest of the engineering staff
· Participate in design process including:
o meeting new product introduction toll gates
o design reviews
o optimization of cost / performance of components and subsystems
o identifying technical risks
o developing risk mitigation strategies and plans
Qualifications

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and attributes:
· Undergraduate engineering or science degree in disciplines relevant to mechanical / electromechanical engineering
· At least 3 years of modeling experience in a professional environment (or equivalent experience in combination with advanced degree), preferably including experience in analysis and modeling large scale dynamic machines
· Hands-on experience with ANSYS Mechanical and CFX
· Advanced meshing experience for solid bodies and fluid media with specific experience in customizing and optimizing large meshes
· Experience with scripting, parameterization, and optimization of ANSYS models
· Experience with 3D CAD programs (e.g. Solid Works, Design Modeler, etc.)
· Working knowledge of ANSYS fatigue analysis (e.g. castings, bolted joints, welded joints, etc.)
· Working knowledge of distributed computing environments
· Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, particularly relating to technical reports and documentation

In addition, the following qualifications and attributes are strongly desired:
· Advanced degrees in relevant fields of study
· Specific experience relating to classical methods of structure and fluid analysis
· Experience with multiple finite element environments
· Experience with multiple scripting/programming languages
· Experience with and/or an understanding of wind turbine design practice
· Experience in developing and leading model validation programs
· Experience with wind turbine manufacturing in a modeling and/or data analysis role
· Experience with and understanding of wind turbine standards and/or certification
